About the Council

Our Vision

Our vision is that Waverley borough will continue to be an attractive and prosperous place to live, work and visit. A place where our residents can take pride in their communities and where there are opportunities for all to thrive and lead healthy lives. A place that is valued by its community and supported by quality public services.

We are regularly named as one of the best places to live in the UK. Yet at the same time, we actively explore new ways to improve, to develop for the future and to challenge ourselves to think differently.

Some facts

  • We are one of 11 local authorities in the county of Surrey
  • We have a turnover of £60 million
  • We employ over 470 people
  • We provide more than 110 services to a population of just over 123,000 people

Our priorities

Over the next five years the Council is focused on working towards three priorities

  • People: Our residents and visitors are front and centre of everything that we do.
  • Place: We’re lucky to have the stewardship of such a beautiful and historic borough and we are committed to safeguarding this most valuable asset.
  • Prosperity: We want to make the most of Waverley’s strategic location and excellent links to the capital, and to shape an Economic Development Strategy that will complement the Local Plan to attract extra investment in skills and employment prospects.

Our Commitment

We are committed to a community-focused approach in everything we do. We endeavour to build our services and our planning in a way that looks after the needs of our residents today while also looking after our borough, our environment and our communities for the future.

As an employer, we are committed to being inclusive and supportive, and to encourage every employee to realise their potential through ongoing training and professional development.
